Oxford Media Appoints WiMAX Visionary Hooman Honary as Chief Technology Officer

Oxford Media, Inc. , a leading developer of scalable, turnkey hybrid digital VOD and PPV entertainment systems marketed under the OxfordSVI name, announced today that it has appointed WiMAX visionary Hooman Honary as its Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Honary played an integral role in the development of wireless technology and strategies during his tenure at both Intel Corporation and Broadcom Corporation, global leaders in semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, where he held senior technology development positions.

In his role as Oxford’s Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Honary will lead technology initiatives at the Company, working with Herbert Presley who will become the company’s Chief Strategy Officer. Mr. Honary’s charge will include the transition of analog video distribution systems to fully IP based digital architectures, and the enabling of wireless distribution of Oxford’s content to communities surrounding its hotels. He will manage Oxford’s software development enabling a scalable, cost effective architecture for Video on Demand for the hospitality industry. Additionally, Mr. Honary's role will include formulation of technical strategy for Oxford’s product lines, creation of intellectual property and leading the introduction of technology based on this IP into Oxford’s products, contributing to the standardization of next generation wireless and multimedia distribution technologies. He will also be responsible for the creation of product and technology roadmaps, and the establishment of market alliances with companies possessing products and technologies that are strategic to Oxford Media's success.

Mr. Honary has been engaged in communications and digital multimedia systems standardization, design and implementation since 1992. He has served in various senior level technical and strategic capacities and has 19 patents issued or pending. From 2004 to 2006, he served as a Senior Strategic Technologist and Sr. Wireless Architect at Broadcom Corporation. From 2001 to 2004, he worked at the Intel Architecture Labs -- Wireless Technology Division where he was a key contributor in numerous leading edge wireless initiatives including the next generation Intel Software Defined Radio architecture "Reconfigurable Communications Architecture" (RCA), which would enable seamless roaming between WLAN, WiMAX and cellular. At both Broadcom and Intel he was involved in due diligence on the acquisition of IP portfolios and companies. Prior to Intel Corporation, he was part of the early team at VxTel Corporation, a start-up developing high performance signal processors for Voice over IP. VxTel was acquired by Intel for $550 million in 2001.

He has been intimately involved in wireless standardization activities and serves as a voting member of the IEEE 802.11 and WiMAX Forum. He has extensive experience in the performance analysis of wireless communication systems and is familiar with a broad range of cellular & IEEE standards; WCDMA, 802.11, (WiFi), and 802.16 (WiMAX). Mr. Honary has a detailed understanding of technologies and architectures used in wireless communication systems such as OFDM, CDMA, and various multiple antenna technologies, as well as digital video encoding technologies such as MPEG2/4 and H.264.
