WiFi at Heathrow, Gatwick and Glasgow airports

17th May , 2004

T-Mobile announce that T-Mobile’s HotSpot (Wi-Fi) service is now available at Heathrow, Gatwick and Glasgow international airports enabling business travellers to work seamlessly while out of the office.

Brian McBride, Managing Director of T-Mobile UK, said: “Our HotSpot offering is a key building block of T-Mobile’s delivery of simple, seamless communications. We are building a multi-speed network for a multi-media world, which will integrate 2G, 3G and Wi-Fi. Our new Wi-Fi HotSpot covering prime BAA airports bring us a step closer to our goal and allow business travellers to maximise downtime while on the move.”

Over 100 million travellers passed through Gatwick, Heathrow and Glasgow airports last year. The convenience of being able to work seamlessly, as they would in the office, while waiting to fly out to their next destination will be invaluable for business professionals.

Locations where T-Mobile’s HotSpots are now available include:

· International departure lounge at Heathrow Terminals 3 & 4
· International departure lounge at Gatwick south Terminal
· International departure lounge at Glasgow airport
· AA (American Airlines) & UAL (United Airlines) lounges, based at Heathrow Terminal 3 used by several thousand business customers

Today’s announcement builds on the success of the partnerships that T-Mobile USA has with American Airlines and United Airlines to provide wireless broadband internet access in each airline's lounges and gates across the USA. The service is also available in 11 airports across Europe, including Germany, Czech Republic and Austria.

McBride continued: “T-Mobile’s partnerships with BAA, American Airlines and United Airlines - three leading international business travel brands - builds on our commitment to expanding our HotSpot service to convenient, recognisable locations for business people across Europe and the USA.”
