BT Wi-Max Trials

UK : BT is currently undertaking WiMax trials to assess whether WiMax could at some stage be launched nationally. The trial is looking at the benefits fixed access ( home and business users ) and mobile access for road warriors.

Currently trials are taking place in Fife Scotland, Pwllheli North Wales, Portleven Cornwall and in Campsie N Ireland.

Fixed access is via WiMax ( 802.16d ) - another later version could be used for mobile access ( 802.16e ) which would allow laptops and PDAs to wirelessly hook-up to a WiMax antenna.
