Canada : WiMAX-Certified products, advanced non-line-of-sight technologies, and new products for expanded frequencies to drive North American and International growth WaveRider Communications Inc. , a leader in non-line-of-sight wireless broadband technology and deployments, today announced a new global product development strategy that is expected to drive the company's continued leadership in the wireless broadband industry. WaveRider's plan includes the development of WiMAX Certified™ products, new products for licensed and license-exempt spectrum bands, and the evolution of the company's non-line-of-sight wireless technologies. WaveRider has also joined the WiMAX Forum (www.wimaxforum.org), which is comprised of more than 75 companies including Intel and Fujitsu, and is focused on accelerating IEEE 802.16-based wireless broadband equipment into the marketplace. "WaveRider has a strong record of combining industry standards with innovative engineering to deliver cost-effective wireless broadband products that meet the specific needs of our customers," said Bruce Sinclair, President and Chief Executive Officer, WaveRider Communications Inc. "We believe our product development initiatives will help WaveRider to increase its share of the North and South American broadband markets and enable entry into new International markets." WaveRider's next generation of Last Mile Solution® (LMS) 900 MHz non-line-of-sight products will maintain the product family's current advantages, including cost-effectiveness, reliability and user features, and will offer additional benefits to operators and users. WaveRider's LMS is in its third generation utilizing 802.11 standards with patent-pending innovations that have improved its cost-effectiveness and performance. The company plans to evolve its LMS family from 802.11-based products to include WiMAX-Certified™ products. "WaveRider's product development strategy will help the company and its customers to make the transition from the features and performance that wireless broadband equipment is offering today to the performance standards that are being promised by the WiMAX initiative in the future," Andy Fuertes, Senior Analyst, Visant Strategies. WaveRider also plans to capture new opportunities in markets such as Latin America, the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and Africa, with the introduction of new products for other licensed and license-exempt spectrum bands that support the delivery of broadband communications in those markets.
